1 – Reward systems

A good way to motivate teens throughout high school is to offer them little rewards they will want to work for. To find a reasonable reward, set expectations, a time when the reward will be given, and brainstorm a mutual reward to help motivate your student.

 2 – Extracurriculars

If your student is in sports or clubs, chances are they are willing to go to many lengths to be able to continue with their interests. Whether the student is barely passing and is still able to play sports and participate in clubs, or is just a few assignments away from an A, you could allow the student to participate in the club or sport only if they are meeting your standards as to what you know they are capable of.

 3 – Their Future

If your student is struggling to find motivation in their classes, remind them that what effort they put in now is important. Let your students know kindly that their GPA can determine what career they have in the future. If your student wants to go to a certain college, or wants a certain job, do research with them as to what GPA they will need to acquire.

 4 – Study Groups

If your child is struggling in classes, have them sign up for, or host study groups. Study groups are excellent ways for your student to be more social, and learn from their peers. Students who are in study groups are typically driven, and want a bright future, so it is a good idea for parents to set their kids with others who will have good influences on them.

 5 – Tutors

If your student is struggling in certain areas of school, set them up with a tutor. Tutors will adapt to your child’s way of learning and help them understand what they are doing. And if your student is interested, they could also tutor others for money.

 6 – Words of praise

A great way to motivate your child, and help them to feel appreciated is to tell them how great they are doing. If your child comes home with an A, tell them that they are incredible, and shape them to crave more, and work harder for good grades. It is better to start this method while they are in elementary school, to shape them for their high school lives.
