  1. Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for your function. The sooner the better for becoming the “go to” person for your area of responsibility.
  2. Maintain a positive attitude and a sense of urgency in completing projects.
  3. Produce only high-quality products, reports, studies, assessments, etc.
  4.  Never, ever put your superiors in an embarrassing position; always keep these individuals informed.
  5. Get to know your boss on multiple levels. This individual can open doors that you never knew existed.
  6. Be more open to take on new and challenging assignments.
  7. Take advantage of organizational opportunities to grow your leadership and management skill sets.
  8. Keep internal and external customers informed of applicable information.
  9. Measure everything that is important to you and your area of responsibility.
  10. Never criticize superiors, organizational leadership or their policies.
